“For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority.” Col 2:9-10
It’s not difficult to sometimes feel alone in the world.
It’s not difficult to sometimes feel overwhelmed by darkness.
Its’ not difficult to sometimes consider if life is worth all the effort.
There was once a man who often felt like this because he lived in the very deepest darkness, “Night and day among the tombs and in the hills he would cry out and cut himself with stones,” Mark 5:5. Maybe you have felt a bit like him sometimes in your life, like there is no way out, so you have engaged in self-destructive behaviour. Got caught up in “things” or “groups” of people you never expected you would. And now you feel trapped. This man certainly did.
But then Jesus came along, as He always does, and in great love and care He took control of the situation which had become way too big for the man. Jesus then spoke with calm, focused authority, “Come out of this man, you impure spirit!” Mark 5:8.
What Jesus did for that troubled, struggling man that day is what He would like to do for you today, because, “In Christ YOU have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority.” In essence then no matter how dark your circumstances may be, no matter how troubled or trapped you may feel, Jesus is definitely more than capable of taking care of you. He will put the darkness to flight. He will do it the same way He did it for the man in the story, without fanfare or embarrassment, so that you can get on with your life as you live for Him. Don’t you think it’s time to put the darkness to flight?
Prayer: Lord Jesus thank you that you overcame the darkness through the Cross and Resurrection. Today I put my full hope and trust in you to dispel all the darkness in my life. Amen!
