who are we

The Trust exist to support, develop and assist the community in Kleinskool and surrounding marginalised areas.

The Trust steers projects identified through basic social, educational and community needs.

why help

Kleinskool community is one of the most vulnerable and marginalised communities in Society.

The mostly Single parent- or Gogo- led families struggle to maintain the most basic social, health and educational needs. With unemployment out of control, many are losing hope.

humble beginnings

In 2003 a partnership was established between Summerstrand United Church and the Kleinskool community. Kleinskool is located in a very poor area of Bethelsdorp, just off the Old Uitenhage Road, in Port Elizabeth.

Initially a Children’s Feeding Scheme was established, operating from the RDP home of Ruth Mcinga (Stompie). From her yard and in the street approximately 150 children were fed 4 days a week.

a dream fulfilled

In 2015 the Trust was enabled though our SUC community to purchase land in Kleinskool. Initially a 12m Container was obtained and converted into a kitchen and store. Funds raised by Grey College paid for fencing, a concrete slab and roof. McDonalds funded a rain water tank (JoJo)

Today we have a thriving community center from which various outreach activities to the community are launched. Over time the facility has been developed into a functional unit and the dream continues……..

KIDS4JOY PRESCHOOL

In 2018 we opened Kids4Joy Pre-School as a project of the Kleinskool Trust. The pre-school accommodate 30 x children between 3 to 5 years of age.

Additional classroom added for 4 to 5 years group.

KLEINSKOOL Youth Soccer against Crime (new project)

The community identified an urgent need for a sport facility for primarily the younger school children on Saturdays. The area is gangster ridden and their activities draw in the young boys in the area. We are in negotiations with 5X team managers in an endeavour to help with soccer equipment, i.e.

  • Team colour Bibs

  • Various size boots and socks

  • Soccer balls and other equipment.

The Trust has made the Field and storing facilities for equipment per team available and are committed to seek assistance and provision for this new venture.

We trust God’s Way in all we do and seek His wisdom to show children His will in the development of their abilities and talent
